BIOGRAPHY

Katherina Hristova is a German-Bulgarian film composer.

She graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (UK) with a Bachelor´s degree in composition in July 2024 and will start her Master´s degree in screen scoring at USC (University of Southern California) in Los Angeles in August 2024.

Her main work focuses on film music expanding through a variety of genres such as comedy (Manton´s Mice), animation (The Stars Between Us), documentaries (This is my Sketchbook), thrillers (Flowers) and horror/mysteries (Paranormal Phenomenon – The Investigators).

She has won an award for “Best Sound Design” for Paranormal Phenomenon – The Investigators at the screening at Staffordshire University and was among the finalists of the Benslow Music Young Composers Competition 2021 with her art song “The Enkindled Spring” for voice and piano.

Further work includes concert music (The Song of the Sea), arrangements (Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher), songs (Bright Shining Star) and ballet music (Dance Sweet Nightingale).

Katherina has collaborated with international orchestras for example RTVE (Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra), the Alternative Orchestra (UK) and The Midland Sinfonia (UK).

Moreover, she has worked with award-winning composers, writers, music editors and engineers, for example Christopher Young (composer), Alex Heffes (composer), Judith Weir (composer), Script Sirens (collective of writers based in the West-Midlands, UK), Neil Stemp (music editor/composer), Michael Hinreiner (recording and mixing engineer at Bavaria Musikstudios, Germany) and FourforMusic (recording and production studio in Sofia, Bulgaria).

As a part of the music department, Katherina has also credits in feature films, for example Mafia Mamma.
